Why Jesus?

"The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that He had made man
on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain."
(Genesis 6:5-6)
Man offended and grieved God in everything he did, this is what the Bible calls SIN.
That sin condemned man to die
"For the wages of sin is death"
(Romans 6:23)
Sin is the universal state of all mankind
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23)
Then God put into action the provision He had made before creation. He sent His only Son, part of the Divine Godhead, to live as a man, fully human, but without sin.
"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-- yet was without sin."
Hebrews 4:15.
That man was Jesus Christ and He chose to die in the place of sinful man. The innocent taking the place of the guilty. Through His death on the Cross of Calvery, the death sentence on man can be lifted, and man can again have Eternal life.
If you wish to be right with God, then you must start again, with Jesus Christ in your life. The Bible says your must be ‘born again’. You can do this by doing 4 things.

First
Acknowledging that you are guilty of choosing your own way rather that God’s way, that you offend God by your self-centredness, and that you do not deserve to live in His Holy Presence. In other words, that you are a sinner.

Second
By accepting that, in His love for all men, God allowed His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place.

Third
By telling God that you are sorry for your sin, asking for His forgiveness, and promising to serve Him forever.

Fourth
By accepting Jesus Christ as the Lord of your life, to guide and direct you in the lifestyle that will please God.
If you wish to do that, if you wish to be right with God, then pray the following prayer. If you do this, and really mean it with all your heart, God will accept you, you will be ‘born again’, you will be a Christian.
Lord Jesus, I recognise that I have offended God by going my own way and ignoring Him. I am sorry for the way I have been living and I want to live a life that pleases God. I know that You can forgive my sins and give me Eternal life and so I ask You to take control of my life and make me the kind of person You want me to be.

A new generation is rising in this third millennial period that is disillusioned and weary without really knowing why. They are restless and unfulfilled in their Christian experience as far as having an atmosphere for growth and experiencing the power in demonstration of the word of God. There is a fire shut up in their bones which cries out its release. Their cry is "there must be more"; "where's the power and demonstration of the kingdom"; "why is there so much confusion and division in the church"; "why…..why…"? Unending questions flood their hearts as they sit on their pews watching the others around them that have dried up on the vine wondering if they are destined for the same. They wander from one place to another not even knowing of a certainty what it is that they are looking for. They are hungry, thirsty, and like the valley of dry bones that need to be called forth into new life by prophetic declaration. Little do they know that all they are looking for is rooted in present truth in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Are You Being Tempted?

'Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial...' James 1:12 NIV

You'll never be exempt from temptation. Each season of life just brings temptation in a different form. When you're young you'll struggle with things like the need for companionship and sexual fulfillment. In business you' might be tempted to distort the truth, cheat and pocket the money. When you become successful, if you're not careful you could become ego-driven, controlling and opinionated.
The truth is, you never become so spiritual as to be exempt from temptation.

After forty days of prayer and fasting, Satan tempted Jesus. Remember, you are as vulnerable to attack after a great spiritual experience as you are in your lowest moments.
Satan understood Jesus' assignment and he was out to stop Him from accomplishing it. And he is out to stop you too! The battle you're in is not over the past, it's over the future. In the face of repeated temptation Jesus defeated Satan by using the Word of God, and you must too. Without it you have no defense.

In what specific areas do you struggle? What's your strategy for victory? What percentage of the time are you successful? Which Scriptures have you memorized to help you conquer the tempter when he comes against you?

Look at Samson, God's champion: blinded, chained, grinding corn like an ox in a Philistine dungeon. Sin has a blinding effect, a binding effect and a grinding effect.

Prisons are filled with people who were too weak to stand up against Satan. Dreams crash daily on the rocks of temptation.
Move the ship of your life away from those rocks while you still can.

Love all your Enemies

"Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully
use you and persecute you."
MATTHEW 5:44

The nature of the Kingdom of God is quite different, and its
character reflects that difference. There is not a kingdom on the face of the earth that could ever adopt a philosophy that says "love your enemies." If you accept the premise that Jesus really is
a King then you are compelled to acknowledge that this King and His Kingdom are truly not of this world.

A national defense policy based on "Love Your Enemies" would be political and national suicide for any earthly government. This Heavenly Order is such a radical departure from the ways of the world that it requires some rather deep experiences with God before a person can really enter into the service of the King, because that service is so unlike anything anyone has ever seen or experienced.

Love that is found in 1 John 4 v 7 - 8 will motivate to love those who hate you.

   SEE THE GLORY

"They will see the glory of the Lord, the splendour of our God". Isa 35:2 NIV

When sporting "World Cups" are held it is customary to start with an opening ceremony that showcases the host nation and some of its more spectacular entertainment. Music, light shows, firework displays and a speech by the head of state all go to provide an "extravaganza" to impress visitors and advertise the country to the watching world. Those who see it wonder in amazement at the glory of the host country. Isaiah knew the importance of "extravaganzas" and glory. But for him there was only one who deserved to receive glory because he dwelt in glory... See More

Consider Your Life

Today's verse is very important to me. I am an aggressive person who wants to be involved in everything, but I have learned the hard way that it isn't wise or even possible. We cannot do everything and do anything well. Quality is much better than quantity. Verse 16 begins by saying she "considers" a new field before she buys it. She considers her present duties and is careful not to neglect them by taking on new ones. In other words, she seriously thinks about what she is about to do and does not act emotionally without forethought.

Oh, how much better life would be if we all took time to think about what we are about to do before we do it. It is amazing how many things I don't buy if I just go home and think about it for a while. It is amazing how one good night's sleep changes our minds. Emotions are fickle and ever changing. This is the reason why it is dangerous to do things based on high emotions without giving plenty of consideration to everything involved. Remember to think before you act.

Pray: Lord, I ask You to give me wisdom as to what I give my time and attention. Help me to be busy with the right things and to give my best to those things. Amen.

Ezra 3:3-4

They set up the altar on its foundations, because they were afraid of the neighboring peoples,[b] and they offered entirely burned offerings upon it to the Lord, both the morning and the evening offerings.
They celebrated the Festival of Booths, as prescribed. Every day they presented the number of entirely burned offerings required by ordinance for that day.

It's Not About Age

Timothy, Paul's "spiritual" son in the ministry, was very young, and he was fearful and worried about what people thought of his youth. Paul told him to let no man despise his youth. It really does not matter how old or young a person is. If God calls someone to do something, and they have the confidence to go forward, nothing can stop them.

How you respond to your age and, for that matter, how others respond is really up to you. We all age in years, but we don't have to get an "I'm too old" mindset. Moses was 80 years old when he left Egypt to lead the Israelites to the Promised Land. Confident people don't think about how old they are; they think about what they can accomplish with the time they have left. Remember, confident people are positive and look at what they have, not what they have lost.

Even if you are reading this devotion and let's say you are 65 years old and feel you have wasted most of your life doing nothing - you can still start today and do something amazing and great with your life.

Pray: Lord, You used people of all ages throughout the Bible, and You can use me. Today is a new day, and I am excited about what You have for me to accomplish. Amen.

Don’t fear

Isaiah 43:1-3

But now, says the Lord
the one who created you, Jacob,
the one who formed you, Israel:
Don’t fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
when through the rivers, they won’t sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you won’t be scorched
and flame won’t burn you.
I am the Lord your God,
the holy one of Israel, your savior.
